Solution for a water leak in a wall-mounted mini-split.
If your wall-mounted unit is leaking water, there are several possible reasons. Below are the most common causes and corresponding solutions.
Common causes of water leaks:
1. Damaged or clogged drain tube: Check the condition of the drain tube and any extensions that have been added. Make sure it is free of obstructions and has a continuous downward slope.
2. Unit not level: Verify that the unit is leveled properly.
3. Damaged or dirty drain pan: Check the condition of the drain pan and clean it if necessary.
4. Exposed drain port: Verify that the drain port is properly covered.
Drain test:
1. Open the front panel and remove any filters.
2. Pour water over the coils.
3. Check that water is draining from the drain point as it should.
Other possible causes:
1. Water leak due to condensation: Check that the air vents are not closed, as this can cause condensation buildup and leaks.
2. Water leak due to ice or excessive frost: Check the coolant level and refill as needed.
Preventive Maintenance:
Make sure the filters, coils, and blower wheel are clean and free of obstructions. This will help prevent performance issues and leaks.
